This project I worked along with fellow Full Sail students Samuel Toro-Almodovar, Luke Monesmith, Light Christinzio, YoungHwan Song (aka Jason), and Brandon Rowley. We decided on a design roughly based on the 2004 movie Van Helsing: you play as a vampire hunter attempting to infiltrate and climb to the top of a vampire lord's castle. For our class, we had one month to design, create, and bug fix this game, and I think we ended up in a pretty good spot. Big influences for our design outside of the aforementioned film include 007: Agent Under Fire (grapple mechanic), Wolfenstein: TNO (lean, slide), and Doom Eternal (weapon wheel/time slowdown). I worked primarily on the movement mechanics and player-related scripts, as well as designing the entry to the castle and final boss fight levels, along with some work on the AI with Jason.
Our team worked pretty well together overall. Sam, Luke, Light, and I had worked together previously a couple of times in our time here at Full Sail, but Jason and Brandon were new to the team. However, there was almost no 'lag' so to speak getting them integrated to our team and both were full contributors from the beginning. The one problem we encountered during our development cycle was a build that went past the turn in time, which was partly due to 'pushing it' as far as implementing new features close to our code freeze time. However, I am mostly happy given our problem was wanting to do MORE work rather than just missing a deadline due to laziness or general forgetfulness.
That being said, I hope you enjoy and please feel free to contact me with any questions about our project!
