HOF 15 Game Jam Entry: Project Dreamer

This project was my team's entry in Full Sail's 2025 HOF game jam (HOF#15, for those curious about the number discrepancy). Due to some personal issues, one of our teammates in our team of 3 had to drop out, so everything was made by me and my partner Josh Brooks, a fellow FS student. The jam went from 12 noon on Sunday to 12 noon on Monday, so everything you could make within 24 hours. Josh and I decided early on a 2D design, and came up with the 'dream pieces' premise pretty quickly after that.

I am pretty happy with what we managed to get done, especially considering the fact that Josh was brand new to Unity, and I also was asked to participate in the Hall of Game event for Halo, so I did leave for a few hours during the evening. However, Josh was a total trooper to work with and kept on working on stuff while I was gone, and it was super painless to get back on the same page with him once I returned from that event.

We also made a decision to prioritize mechanic/design accuracy over doing a lot of stuff. I definitely spent extra time making sure the sword slash hit the enemies exactly as it looks it should from all various player orientations, when I maybe could have done a little bit sloppier of a job and done another new feature with that saved time. That being said, I am happy with the decision that Josh and I made to take our time and get things right rather than implementing half finished features.

The pitch for the jam was 'follow the dream'. Our game's premise is that you are 'to collect the pieces of your shattered dreams and unleash your true potential'. Hope you guys enjoy! (Game is unaltered from actual jam turn-in state)
